Celebrating the New Year on January 1st is a relatively new phenomenon.
The earliest recording of new year being around the year
c. 2000 B.C. and was celebrated about the time of the vernal equinox, in mid-March.
A myriad of  dates tied to the seasons were also used by various ancient cultures.

Bet you didn’t know that…

January Joins the Calendar

The first time the new year was celebrated on January 1st was in Rome in 153 B.C.
(In fact, the month of January did not even exist until around 700 B.C., when the second
king of Rome, Numa Pontilius, added the months of January and February.)

No way could you have known that…

Auld Lang Syne

The most popular song sung for English-speakers on New Year’s eve, “Auld Lang Syne”
is an old Scottish song that was first published by the poet Robert Burns.

It is often remarked that “Auld Lang Syne” is one of the most popular songs that nobody
knows the lyrics to. “Auld Lang Syne” literally translates as “old long since” and means
“times gone by.”

Now you know…

Did you know the new year is the most important holiday in Japan, and is a symbol of renewal?
At midnight on Dec. 31, Buddhist temples strike their gongs 108 times, in a effort to expel
108 types of  human weakness.

Now that’s real cool…

Undoubtedly, the most famous tradition in the USA is the dropping of the New Year ball
in Times Square, New York City, at 11:59 P.M. Thousands gather to watch the ball make its
one-minute descent, arriving exactly at midnight. This tradition first began in 1907.
The original ball was made of iron and wood; the current ball is made of Waterford Crystal,
weighs 1,070 pounds, and is six feet in diameter.

A southern tradition on New Year’s is a dish of Hoppin’ John—black eyed peas and ham hocks.
An old saying goes, “Eat peas on New Year’s day to have plenty of everything the rest of the year.”
Not to mention the superstition of having a man be the first to enter your home.

Got my peas on and popping…

Resolutions:  Whats yours, will you keep them for more than two weeks this year?  Anyway, it is
believed that the Babylonians were the first to make New Year’s resolutions,
and people all over the world have been breaking them ever since. The early Christians believed
the first day of the new year should be spent reflecting on past mistakes and resolving to improve
oneself in the new year.

Fireworks: Making noise and fireworks on New Year’s eve is believed to have started in ancient times,
when noise and fire were thought to dispel evil spirits and bring good luck.  You know, just like you do
on the 4th of July. The Chinese are credited with inventing fireworks and use them to
spectacular effect in their New Year’s celebrations.

Man, I tell ya, the guys and girls here at Empower Network really know their stuff, I mean, you can
learn about stuff like the history of New Years, some the traditions surrounding it and so on.
Not to mention how to market your products and or services like a real pro. What a cool place.

Happy New Year World, Yeah, 2012 Baby…

When we speak of blogging platforms we are referring to the device you use to design everything from the look, feel, color schemes,
font sizes and graphics.

This is where you get creative and personally brand yourself and set yourself apart from the rest of the Blogosphere .

Branding is a very important part of your online success. Empower Network shows you the proper way to do it.

To get a accurate picture of the major players in this arena let’s take a look at the blog platforms of choice
among the top 100 blogs as listed by Technorati, (a blog search engine).
Surprisingly, there were only 12 platforms making up the 100, which speaks volumes to the awesome effectiveness of those chosen.

For this article, we will focus on the best of the best which brings us to only four that garnered double digits usage ou tof the 100 spots.

They are as follows, Word Press with 27, TypePad with 16, Blogsmith with 14 and Moveable Type with 12.
As you can see, these four superstars took 69 of the top 100 spots.

Word Press is the clear leader among the leaders. Very impressive.

When choosing your platform you’ll also need to decide on hosted versus non-hosted features.
Hosted simply means the blog is housed on that platforms server, whereas, non-hosted means your blog
would be housed on your own sever which is usually a third party vendor you pay a small monthly fee to host,
the latter choice gives you more control and ownership, so, if you’re blogging for profit there’s only one way to go.

Of course, there are pros and cons to both of these methods and they differ slightly depending on the platform you choose .
But generally speaking the pros of the hosted platforms are, for starters, they are extremely easy to set a up and interface with.
Almost all come with very efficient how to tutorials and, again, generally speaking, “are free”.

A few of the cons to be noted are they don’t appear to be as professional, there is not as much room for personalization,
branding, search engine optimization suffers and you could very well lose all your content because it’s not on your own server.

The pros of using a non-hosted platform are many, but in my humble opinion, the main one is that unlike the hosted version
you own and control the content you produce and in general have more control of your entire blogging experience, and believe me,
control is good.

Personalization and branding capabilities are only limited by your imagination and non-hosted versions can be fully optimized
for the search engines.

This may sound a little bias, but, in my humble opinion, unless you are a seasoned techie you’ll be hard pressed to find any cons,
for the average user there is no need for concern. So, as far as platforms go, Word Press seems to be the clear cut overall leader
and for several reasons but mainly because of it’s all around excellence, as in ease of use, making changes, upgrading and the ever
growing extensive variety of plug-ins to make your blog more efficient, the seemingly endless selection of themes in which to personalize
your blog.

Word Press also gives you an option of the hosted or non-hosted versions. Word Press. com is the hosted version and
Word Press. org is the non-hosted version.

There you have it. Choose wisely.

Blogging, Article Marketing, Video Marketing, Google Adwords, PPC, Solo Ads, Email Marketing and on and on til the break of dawn.

If you have a business online, or, you are considering one, there are really only two issues, two areas of concern, two skill sets you must master to play the game.

Now, I want to be clear here, I’m not saying these are the only two but according to the experts and gurus (I don’t fit in that category) these are the most important. That is assuming you have the other essentials in place as in a great product and/or service.

Traffic + Conversion = Money.

If you missed that let me point it out to you. In order to make money on the internet you must produce a steady stream of traffic, then you must convert that traffic to a sale. Conversion and sales are basically one in the same.

Traffic + Conversion/Sales = Money

One is no good without the other, what good is it to have a ton of traffic and no sales. Conversion is key. So you have to have a compelling valuable offer to begin with. But understand, no matter how valuable the offer without the traffic no one will know.

All traffic is not created equal, in business you don’t want just any traffic, you want the most laser targeted traffic you can get. Why, well, if you sell hamburgers and I’m in the market for a hotdog guess what, I’m not your guy. If you sell hamburgers you need to find hamburger lovers and the more the merrier.

According to the SBA over 50% of businesses fail in their first two years. Incredible. One of the main reasons, Traffic…You have the best hamburger on the planet but no one on the planet knows. As Gomer Pyle says, shame, shame, shame.

Why do you think the traditional brick and mortar businesses spend so much money on advertising? For no other reason than  to bring in traffic, traffic, traffic. They are master at converting that traffic to sales. You go into McDonalds to buy a hamburger and fry and you also come out with a drink, apple pie and sundae..

Masters of the trade…

Fortunately for us internet marketers we don’t have to spend anywhere near that kind of money to learn how to generate consistent traffic online. But you do have to spend some money. Working online is a “REAL” business that requires time and money, that is, if you want to make money.

This is a real profession and the people that treat it like one make money. Just like going to college to become and accountant, you have to be educated, you have to be trained. Don’t get it twisted…

You’re on a website that provides some of the best training on the planet from some of the industry’s top marketers. The information is here, do with it what you will.

Let’s recap, we assume you have a great product or service, if not you can get that here. With a product/service that adds value to a prospective customer’s experience the two things you need most is traffic and then convert that traffic to a sale.

Simple formula…Traffic + Conversion = Money

There is a ever growing never ending quest to provide a solution and solve this  problem. Any ideas?

Automation my friend, automation…

Stay tuned…

There you have it…

Y’all come back now ya hear…

My, my, my how the times have changed, expectantly, many things are different than they were just 30 years ago.  Remember when the first cell phones came out?  People were carrying them around in what looked like a brief case, now you can put them in your shirt pocket. It was a great technological advance when the cassette made the 8-track obsolete, the CD has all but wiped out the cassette and now the mp3 player makes the CD look ancient.
Our life on planet earth is evolving at break neck speed and if you take a nap for too long you may not know where you are once you awaken.

Successes are literally happening in just a couple of nights. Only in today’s world can a company go from $0 to $1.65 BILLION in a year and a half, YouTube mad it look easy in breaking all sorts of records in it’s rise to the top. How about Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook fame becoming the world’s youngest billionaire at age 23.

Yes, these are poster boy stories but what’s really exciting is that last year alone 1000 brand spanking new millionaires were created on the Internet, all working form home using nothing more than the computer you’re on right now.

More wealth is being created in the area of technology than any other sector in the world bar none, wanna play?

Very impressive stuff, but, hold your horses, before you get all hyped up about the possibilities, which, truly are unlimited, there’s one fundamental principal that needs to be addressed right here. Neglect this and you’re destined to remain at your 9-5.

Success is a MINDSET, that’s right, a successful mindset is a prerequisite for the success your searching for. It’s no mystery, it’s not rocket science, just the facts baby.

Successful people focus on developing themselves before they focus on creating wealth. Many athletes, movie stars and lottery winners lose their wealth because the are not prepared for it, they did not develop themselves for wealth so they can’t keep it.

When you have developed a wealthy mindset, even if you lose your wealth you have the ability to not only retrieve it but often acquire more, can you say Donald Trump?

James Allen, in his masterpiece, As a Man Thinketh quotes, the human being can only rise, conquer and achieve by lifting up his thoughts “. “Successful people have libraries. The rest have big screen TV’s”. Jim Rohn. Second to the Bible only, Napoleon Hill’s ” Think And Grow Rich ” is the best selling book of all time.

One of the reasons the rich get richer is because they have prepared themselves for it, they have developed a wealthy mindset. Once acquired, they attract more of the same. In the opposite direction, the same is true for poor people.

Listen, if you’re still struggling with limiting beliefs, negative emotions, destructive attitudes and thoughts, you’ll never develop a strong enough BELIEF to play the game of life on a high enough level to achieve any measure of success.

MINDSET is step one. Don’t underestimate this.

Before we even begin to discuss business strategies and concepts that will explode your marketing efforts it’s important that we properly set the stage and get off on the right foot, your success depends on it.

Let’s understand that it’s not just about the money, if you want to be a better husband, father, wife, mother, accountant or anything else you have to develop into the person you wish to become.

If you want to start a revolution you gotta EVOLVE!!!

Wow, can you really sum this powerful claim up with one reason? Let me answer that question with a question. If you don’t know where you’re going can you ever get there? Of course not, you lack direction.

Definiteness Of Purpose is the starting point for all achievement and the lack thereof is why ninety eight out of every one hundred people never really define their goals and set out towards them. It’s as simple as that. When you don’t define your goals you don’t know where you’re going, so, you can never, ever get there.

To progress towards success the fundamental question of, “where am I going” has to be defined and clarified up front.

No, you don’t go from New Jersey to California without a plan of action but 98 out of a 100 travel on the road of life without ever turning on their GPS.

Definiteness of Purpose is the starting point for all achievement. It is the number one reason people fail in life and in business.

You’ve heard of the 30 second elevator pitch, right? You know, if someone stopped you in an elevator or in the checkout line at whole foods or walmart and asked you what your purpose in life was, could you tell them in 30 seconds or less?

Trust me, 97% cannot and that’s why you have the 3% of the population running things, worldwide…

You often hear in the network marketing, internet marketing, mlm and home based businesses that 95 to 97% of the people fail. You can take it to the bank that that group of people don’t have their goals defined, of the small percentage that does they don’t have them written down on paper. And even smaller percentage have them committed to memory. In short, no defined purpose.

If you fail to plan you plan to fail…

Napoleon Hill’s classic Think and Grow Rich outlines this. It is further expounded upon in his other classic Keys To Success  The 17 Principles of Personal Achievement and is THE FIRST principal laid out as the foundation for the 16 that follow.

Woo Hoo, don’t you feel a little better knowing it came from a legendary authority like Napoleon Hill? When Napoleon speaks smart people listen.

Hill goes on to say that having definiteness of purpose also carries with it other advantages that support it such as…

Specialization is encourage that leads to perfection.

Budgeting Time and Money will become necessary to facilitate your success.

Alertness to Opportunity related to your purpose that facilitates its attainment.

Decision Making Capability increases.

Cooperation from others because of your increased confidence.

The greatest benefit to establishing definiteness of purpose is that it opens your mind to the quality known as FAITH…

Success Consciousness, your mind becomes sold on it.

The Power of your Subconscious kicks in, at that point you’re on autopilot.

So, in your quest to be the latest, greatest internet marketing, mlm, or home based business star you cannot underestimate the power of definiteness of purpose. To do so is to be forever tied to the 97%’s.

It’s time to break out. I encourage you, no, I implore you to purchase Napoleon Hill’s Keys to Success, read it, internalize it, apply it. After that, you can’t be stopped, it’s a done deal.

2012 is your year to ascend to the highest heights, to live your dreams.

Indeed, life is good.

Peace and Love.

Y’all come back now ya hear!!!
